I grew up in the ‘60s and ‘70s
watching television. It was the perfect babysitter, always available and
at no cost. My “television
generation” woke up to our Saturday morning classics like: H.R.
Pufnstuf, The Kroft Supershow, Josie and the Pussycats, and Sigmund and
the Sea Monsters.
Our journey begins at the barge canal boat dock of the Office of
Greenways and Trails under the bridge on U.S. 19. Heading west on the
barge canal for five miles in the comfort of a pontoon boat, we come
to the beautiful Withlacoochee Bay on the Gulf of Mexico and the start
of the Great Florida
Birding Trail’s Oystercatcher Trail.
From the strumming of acoustic
guitars to the giggle of children’s voices, the sound of Floral
City Heritage Days 2005 will soon fill the air.
